Manager of Talent and Performance

 

E.L. Haynes seeks a Manager of Talent and Performance to join our Talent Team to drive employee engagement strategy with the goal of improving employee experience and performance through creating meaningful and inclusive experiences while tracking the growth in performance of our 200-member staff. The Manager of Talent and Performance will join a team of three members to focus on providing employees with the best experience possible and the goal of making each member of our staff community feel valuable.

 

Founded in 2004, the award-winning E.L. Haynes is among the top-performing charter schools in Washington, DC, and currently serves 1,135 students in grades Pre-K3 through 12th grade.

The Manager of Talent and Performance will be a core member of the Talent team and will focus on coordinating and implementing systems and structures that promote a fair, inclusive, engaging, and responsive onboarding experience for all incoming staff. They will also support the team's employee engagement and performance data collection and analysis efforts, championing the use of this data in driving system and experience improvements.

 

Essential Job Functions

 

Employee Onboarding & Engagement (40%)

  • With members of the Talent team, lead the creation of orientation and onboarding plans that provide a welcoming environment, a solid training foundation, and support high employee retention.
  • Craft and track new hire communications to ensure new hires are set up for day one of orientation to include welcome emails, onboarding emails, and check-in
  • Support school principals, directors and executive leadership teams to develop training schedules and materials for all new
  • Plan and manage the logistics for all new hire events i.e. new hire social events, new staff institute, all staff
  • Develop, implement and assist with facilitating employee events (celebrations, service awards, appreciation weeks, retreats, etc.) or other special projects by clarifying project objectives, setting schedules, conducting research and organizing information for

Employee Performance Management (25%)

  • Serve as the point of contact for the learning and performance management systems
  • Assist and continuously audit the performance management system to enhance overall program effectiveness.
  • Support the performance management cycle throughout the year to ensure employees receive timely, objective and actionable
  • Communicates and tracks employee professional development opportunities, certifications and licensures off academic and non-academic
  • With the Director of HR and Talent Management, partner with leaders on performance coaching efforts and corrective action measures administered for staff to ensure compliance and alignment to our core
  • Support the Director of HR and Talent Management in the creation of career progression charts and succession planning for

Employee Data & Strategy (20%)

  • Lead the collection and analysis of employee engagement and organizational climate data (biannual surveys, pulse surveys, focus groups, )
  • Drive eNPS at a high level and identify key engagement
  • Develop and communicate positive employee engagement strategies and retention initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain performance measures to guide continuous improvement and further increase employee engagement, satisfaction and

 Employee Relations Support (15%)

  • Provides support in the prevention, investigation, resolution, and referral of employee relations issues.
  • Support consistent policy interpretation and application of HR policies organization-wide, ensuring that policies are enforced equitably and
  • Track, log and analyze all employee relations information and
  • Work with managers, supervisors and employees on employee relations issues, including the discipline process, employee morale, workplace relations, and grievances
  • Coordinate employee exit processes and conduct exit interviews with all departing

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of progressive human resources, people operations, HR business partner or related field experience in a school preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal) and exemplary customer service skills
  • A team player with a sense of collaboration and ownership
  • Expertise and demonstrated experience in developing engaging and impactful training and presentations
  • Ability to build strong, authentic relationships and credibility with people at all levels
  • Organized with attention to detail and ability to make timely, effective, mission-aligned decisions
  • Ability to work at a high level and manage multiple ongoing issues and complex employee matters
  • Exceptional reliability and integrity to maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues
  • Understanding of how to build an organizational culture and translate between three campuses
  • Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite
