TEACHING AT HAYNES

We want our teachers to grow! At Haynes, we provide our teachers with opportunities to strengthen their understanding of the connection between academic success and social-emotional learning. We use Responsive Classroom training for our elementary school teachers and Developmental Designs training for our middle and high school teachers. We offer weekly, in-house professional development for Elementary and Middle School staff and quarterly professional development for all staff.

Year-round teaching opportunities:  As the first year-round school in D.C. we offer a unique calendar with additional opportunities for learning and breaks for our teachers in October and February. Our teachers, paraprofessionals, and instructional aides have multiple opportunities for additional compensation through coaching, leading clubs and/or teaching a class during our intersessions.

Your classroom resources: We deeply believe that teachers must have the tools to maximize their impact and provide teachers with access to Amazon Prime to purchase supplies for their classrooms. In addition, our staff has access to school supplies on-site as well as grade-level specific budgets for initiatives and/or experiential learning.
